Methodology

TangoEra's engine is built on a classical Chinese calendrical system (Ba Zi), translated into a modern decision-psychology model. A structured mirror for self-reflection — not fortune-telling.

How the engine works

The engine reads a birth date, time and place, and converts them into the four pillars of the classical Ba Zi calendar. Those pillars are a fixed, rule-based time notation — not a prediction. Each pillar is then mapped onto seven decision-psychology dimensions (risk weighting, pace under pressure, information appetite, and so on) using a scoring model that is fixed in code and identical for every user.

The output is a decision profile: charts, a situation heatmap, a cohort comparison and a short action plan. Every conclusion in the report carries a visible trace back to the inputs and the rule that produced it, so you can inspect the reasoning rather than take a label at face value.

Where it breaks

Honesty first: this is not a validated psychometric instrument, and we do not claim it is one. It has no peer-reviewed norming sample, no test–retest reliability study, and no clinical oversight. The Ba Zi layer is a traditional calendrical convention whose link to behaviour is interpretive, not causal — we translate it into a decision model, we do not prove it. Birth time is often remembered imprecisely, and a two-hour pillar boundary can shift the reading; unknown or approximate inputs add noise we cannot remove. The model is cross-cultural in ambition but its language and reference points lean Western and English-first. It cannot see your circumstances, health, finances, relationships or what happened last week, and it should never be used as the sole basis for a medical, legal, financial or irreversible life decision. Treat a mismatch between the report and how you see yourself as the most useful signal it can give you — a prompt to reflect, not a verdict to obey.

What it is not

It is not fortune-telling, not a zodiac sign, and not a prediction of your future. It is a structured mirror for self-reflection and decision support — nothing more.
